Hi, I’m Johannes du Toit, writer, mentor, and horse-assisted educator living in the heart of South Africa’s Bushveld, where I share life with my family, a small herd of horses, and a loyal pack of big-hearted dogs.
Before stepping into this quieter chapter, I spent over two decades as a police detective in the criminal investigation department. That journey gave me a front-row seat to the full spectrum of human nature, what people are capable of in both their darkest moments and their most resilient. It was a career marked by intensity, but also by insight.
After retiring, I knew I needed to choose a different path, one shaped by purpose, and grounded in simplicity and discovery. I traded the chaos of the city for the stillness of open land. And in that silence, I found my voice again.
Today, I write books that are grounded in story and soul. My work blends cowboy wisdom, the quiet truths of nature, and life’s more difficult questions. These books aren’t about performance, they’re about reflection. Not about noise, but clarity. They’re written for anyone looking to make sense of their own path, to step away from distraction, and to reconnect with who they truly are.
